Reunion Classes of 1963
Saturday, October 11th, 2003

This is a beginning...  This Page was conceived at the 40th Reunion, October 11th 2003, of the Lowell High School, January Class of 1963!  Several classes attended this Reunion, as we are all getting to the age where is just 'good' to see old friends!!

Classes represented at the October 11th 2003 Reunion are welcome to space here!

For a start, I've received the e-mail address of some~most of the members of our January Graduating Class...  What follows is that list...  If there are any errors, additions or corrections, please send me an e-mail!!  After many hours at the keyboard the lines of code can make us computer geeks quite dizzy...and even I can make mistakes.  Some of our Classmates are fear-full of posting personal information on our web site... others are not!  I fall into the latter group...  letting the chips fall where they may...

Notes from Paul

Firstly, Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Day is the annual city football championship game and Lowell is participating thanks to an undefeated season in league play. Lowell will be facing last year's champion Lincoln. George Benetatos and I will be going to the game and we hope you can join us. The game starts at eleven at Kezar but get there early because the lines are long and ticket sales staff is inefficient.
(Hint: the lines are shorter at the west entrance.)

George and I plan to get there early and have breakfast. Please join us. Let me know if you can make it.

Secondly, in September, John Ling (Lowell, class of Spring, 1962) and I took Mr. Braunreiter to dinner. We spent three and a half hours with him  and plan to do it again. Please let me know if you would like to join us.

Remember our reunion on January 29/07!
(see Paul's Contact Info, Below)

From the Lowell website here's what the Lowell website has to say about the championship: http://lowellathletics.olinesports.com/

11/18/06 Lowell, Lincoln for title Lowell is heading back to the Turkey Day Game for a chance to win its third championship in five years.

The regular-season Academic Athletic Association champions, who usually lean on short runs and clock-chomping drives, used two touchdown runs of more than 70 yards to knock off fourth-seeded Mission High 22-14 in the first of two semifinal games at Kezar Stadium.

"We all promised the seniors last year that we'd make it back (to Turkey Day)," Lowell senior running back Duc Anh Lee said. "Last year it hurt so much. We walked around school for the next week in a daze."

Lowell (10-1), which won the 2004 Turkey Day Game over Balboa, lost to Lincoln 24-22 in the semis last year to end its season.

Lee, who rushed for 151 yards on 15 carries, burst through the middle of Lowell's scrum on the Cardinals’ first offensive play for an 83-yard touchdown. Then, after going the entire first half without a carry, Marcos Cronander ran 70 yards up the middle on the first play of the second half to break a 6-6 tie.

More than anything, though, Lowell overcame a remarkable effort from Mission running back DeAngelo Winston. The senior ran for 211 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries.

With 9:30 left in the second quarter, Winston danced through a hole in the left side, spun back to the middle, and dove into the end zone for a 15-yard TD to tie the game.

But Mission (5-6), which lost its third semifinal game in three years, lost the ball four times on fumbles, threw two interceptions, and saw penalty flags flying the entire game.

Bismark Navarro (114 yards, 15 carries) gave Lowell a 22-6 lead with 1:36 left in the third quarter when he ran 30 yards for a TD on a fourth down play.

Mission had opportunities after LaQuan Dawes scored from 1-yard out on Mission's next possession to trim the Lowell lead.

But turnovers and penalties, including a holding call that negated a 27-yard TD run from Winston with 3:44 left, kept the Bears out of the end zone.

Mission totaled 311 yards, while Lowell finished with 360 yards -- all on the ground.

Finally, remember our reunion on January 29/07!

- Paul
